Graham’s was founded in 1820 and now has 186 years of experience as a producer of premium Ports. The company has been owned by just two families in its entire history; originally founded by the Graham’s, it was acquired by the Symington family in 1970. The Symingtons can trace their ancestors as Port producers back four generations to Andrew James Symington who came to Oporto in 1882, but back thirteen generations
through their great grandmother, Beatrice Atkinson, to Walter Maynard who shipped 39 pipes of Port in 1652. A unique record in the history of Port.

Today six members of the Symington family work in the company, Peter, Paul, Johnny, Dominic, Rupert and Charles. The family personally manages all aspects of winemaking from the vineyard to the final bottling of the wine.

“Rating Portugal’s producers of Port: Graham’s 5 STAR ***** (Outstanding)”
Robert Parker, Parker’s Wine Buying Guide, Sixth Edition 2003

The Leading Vintage Port House

Graham’s Vintage Ports are richer in style than others; they have a velvet-like elegance and are powerful, with layers of black fruit, eucalyptus and mint. They have great finesse, excellent balance and great complexity. Graham’s Vintage Port has length and style and is a wine of incomparable quality. Graham’s has produced many legendary wines in the 20th Century. Classic examples are Graham’s 1908, 1927, 1945, 1963, 1970 and the great Graham’s 1948 and 2000. The Graham’s 1948 is one of the greatest Vintage Ports ever made.

The consistently outstanding quality of its vintage Ports illustrates a passion for making great Port…”
James Suckling, Vintage Port

In his authoritative book, Michael Broadbent gives Graham’s more “5 star” ratings than any other Vintage Port for the period 1945-2000.
11 “5 star” wines: 1945, 1948, 1955, 1963, 1966, 1970, 1977, 1985, 1994, 1997, 2000. Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine 2002

Graham’s has the highest average score of any leading producer for every Declared Vintage in the period 1955 to 2000. Graham’s averages 18.07/20.
